"It is
exciting, as well as reassuring, to witness young, gifted musicians
in the happy throes of genre-splicing, witty, creative fervor"
- LOS ANGELES TIMES
TRIOLOGY is an ensemble of three dynamic string virtuosos who have set out to break through barriers between styles and revolutionize chamber music, earning ecstatic applause in concert halls all over the world.
Since their inception, TRIOLOGY has received rave reviews by critics and audiences worldwide. Whether performing on their own, with BOBBY MCFERRIN in Mexico City, on tour with solo violinist JULIAN RACHLIN, or on record with jazz guitarist WOLFGANG MUTHSPIEL, this unique trio draws enthusiastic crowds to the concerts. The famed Oscar winning film composer HANS ZIMMER (Lion King), has invited them several times to arrange and record for his movies in Hollywood. The musicians write and arrange all their own repertoire, inspired by music from around the world, drawing influence from all sorts of genres, be it classical, jazz, pop, contemporary music or world music.
Each TRIOLOGY performance is integrally conceived and consists of original works by the individual members often involving improvisation or innovative arrangements of composers such as ASTOR PIAZZOLLA, PACO DE LUCIA and ENNIO MORRICONE; and invigorating renditions of ethnic music such as Klezmer, Irish and Baltic folk, jazz, minimal music, Latin, Indian and African music.
“TRIOLOGYS PLAYS ENNIO MORRICONE”, their first CD was released by BMG worldwide. Highly acclaimed by the press, it was also praised by ENNIO MORRICONE who said: "Their broad artistic range has enabled them to discover in my work the basis for interpretations of great virtuosity without destroying the compositions themselves... I must say the soloists who have recorded this compact disc are truly authentic artists."
Academy Award-winning composer HANS ZIMMER discovered Triology in the spring of 1999 at the film music Biennale in Bonn where they performed for ENNIO MORRICONE. Zimmer immediately invited them to HOLLYWOOD to arrange and record on several movie soundtracks.
TRIOLOGY’S second recording on the BMG label is entitled "WHO KILLED THE VIOLA PLAYER?". It is a combination of original compositions from TRISTAN SCHULZE and ALEKSEY IGUDESMAN and arrangements of pieces by ASTOR PIAZZOLLA, PACO DE LUCIA as well as Irish folk music.
The trio became a string quartet for the first time, when they were joined by renowned violinist JULIAN RACHLIN who has been with them on tour on several occasions.
In seasons 2001/2002 and 2002/2003, TRIOLOGY was joined by the internationally acclaimed jazz guitarist WOLFGANG MUTHSPIEL for several tours coupled with a CD release under the name of "THAT'S ALL DAISY NEEDS" www.materialrecords.com.
In 2001 TRIOLOGY premiered the CONCERTO FOR TRIOLOGY AND ORCHESTRA composed by TRISTAN SCHULZE, with the KLAGENFURT SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA conducted by ALEXANDER JOEL in the KONZERTHAUS in Klagenfurt.
The trio has performed in prestigious venues and festivals throughout the world including the Rome, Palermo and Ravenna Festivals, the Bremen festival and Hamburg Festtage, and they appear regularly at the renowned Konzerthaus and Musikverein Vienna. Their extensive touring takes them all over the world: Italy, Japan, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Turkey, the Ukraine, Australia, Mexico, the US and many other countries.
In Autumn 2002, TRIOLOGY released the CD "AROUND THE WORLD IN 77 MINUTES" which was immediately nominated for the AMADEUS AWARD.
In May 2003, Triology opened the Vienna Festival where they performed for 40.000 people, broadcast live on Austrian television.
2005, TRIOLOGY performed with BOBBY MCFERRIN at the Centro Historico Festival in Mexico. In the same year, they premiered their new multi-media project “THE INDIA EXPERIENCE” at the Bregenz Festival and the Musikverein, Vienna.
In the future they will be touring Austria, Germany, Scandinavia, Spain, Italy, Mexico and the US with their programs “KALEIDOSCOPE” and "AROUND THE WORLD".
